Revelations show Conservative MP Caroline Nokes, who called for GB News shutdown, pocketed thousands from Talk TV.
Conservative MP Caroline Nokes, notable for her vocal calls to close GB News, has been disclosed as a regular paid panellist for competitor channel, Talk TV. Documents from the Parliamentary Register of Members’ Financial Interests indicate that over a six-month span earlier in the year, Nokes received £6,300 from Talk TV, with her role on the late-night newspaper review show, First Edition, earning her £300 per hour.
Many critics argue this situation presents a glaring conflict of interest. A former Tory minister commented on her “hypocrisy” saying, “It’s embarrassing to see the constant attacks on colleagues… even worse is the call for GB News to be shut down when she is earning thousands working for a competitor.” Furthermore, some of her party peers are challenging the motive behind her constant criticisms, especially when she’s profiting from a rival channel.
Sir John Hayes stressed the importance of GB News as an “alternative view to the mainstream liberal left media”. Meanwhile, David Davis, the former Brexit Secretary, found the demands to shut GB News concerning, emphasising the critical value of free speech. Source
Only GBNews is criticised as employing MPs. Nobody says a word about those working for TalkTV and LBC. This needs to be called out on every post.
