Rachel Reeves, the shadow foreign secretary, found herself in the hot seat during an interview this morning regarding David Lammy’s participation in a fringe event at the Labour conference. When asked directly about the appropriateness of Lammy appearing alongside the Palestinian diplomat, Reeves stated that she was not aware of Lammy’s conference schedule and had not heard the controversial remarks. Nevertheless, she made it clear that such remarks were entirely unacceptable and in direct disagreement with Labour’s position.
Rachel Reeves emphasised that Labour stands with Israel and its people, supporting their right to self-defense, the protection of citizens, and the safe return of hostages. Although she remained uncertain about the details of Lammy’s schedule and whether Zomlot would attend the conference, Reeves highlighted Lammy’s unwavering commitment to Labour’s support for Israel.
